A member asked:

I feel sick all the time and not right. i have a grade two heart murmur and high platelets. for about two years now. what can this be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Thrombocythemia: Abnormally high platelet counts can occur as a reaction to a systemic problem (example infection) as well as a primary blood count/bone marrow issue. A murmur can also be a primary valvular abnormality or secondary to a systemic problem like anemia (which produces a high flow murmur with an increased cardiac output). You need to see an internist with a full checkup/bloodwork/echocardiogram.
