My 3 year old was found to have a small heart murmur today for the first time. could it be pda or other heart issue that wasn't discovered earlier?

Dr. Jay Park answered

Your child is more likely to have a benign, often called innocent, murmur. More than 80% of children have innocent murmurs sometime during childhood, most commonly beginning at age 3 to 4 years. Innocent murmurs are accentuated in high cardiac output states, especially with fever and anemia.
