A member asked:

My daughter is 18 months and wants her pacifier all day. she probably has it in her mouth 85 90% of the time. will this delay her speech?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possibly or not ?: Getting a kid to let go of a pacifier is hard if it is their best stress reliever & best friend.Making gradual changes can help.Toddlers seldom understand the value of a pocket & often use their mouth as one, attaching paci to a clip/ribbon can keep it close but out of the mouth more.If you keep it in a ziploc bag & open it only if she asks can help. Many quit when kids @ daycare notice & poke fun.
