Waiting by the phone: I would ask to talk to the office manager and then politely give the details of the situation explaining that you are frustrated by not getting a return phone call. Discuss what you want to know. Then ask if the office manager can help you get the information you need. Many family doctors have an assistant that can also help facilitate getting an answer for you. Be assertive but appropriate.
