What are some good parenting styles?

Active parenting: This style teaches you to give your child freedom with limits. The limits expand as the child shows more responsibility. Check out dr. Michael popkin's program at www.Activeparenting.Com. I used to teach the class to parents and found to be the best.

Baumrind's long-term: studies on parenting styles show that Authoritative Parenting, in which both control & responsiveness are high, is most likely to yield competent, confident adults. Clear rules & consequences, two-way conversations & sensitivity to the child's needs are characteristic. Authoritarian style has high control but low responsiveness (think military). Democratic style, low control, high responsiveness.
