Does breastfeeding help women lose weight?

Yes: Breastfeeding women burn a significant amount of calories, up to 600 per day more than those who do not breastfeed. Six hundred calories is the equivalent of jumping rope for almost an entire hour, so you can imagine that this would be helpful in weight loss. However, weight loss is variable among breastfeeding mothers & everyone will not see a significant weight change simply from breastfeeding.
