Dr. Grace Ho answered

I'd say Yes: Obviously, in our current society, medias such as television, internet, and magazine have shaped a lot of people's view in terms of body image, but children spend the most time with their parents. Parents play an important role in terms of modeling good behaviors (e.g. Moral, value, judgement) and providing corrective responses for problem behaviors.

The Msgs Moms Convey: Dr julie ancis, psychologist & author says “absolutely!” she emphasizes “[t]he messages moms send about food, diet, appearance can all impact daughters. It is important to understand the degree to which mothers have internalized sociocultural messages regarding beauty and the subtle and more overt messages they sends to her daughters. At the same time, we need to be careful not to blame moms.".
