A member asked:

What causes eye burn injuries in welders?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Flash burn: The most common eye problem in welders is uv light burns (similar to sunburn on the skin) to the corneal surface (the cornea is the clear window at the front of the eye). This is why welders wear helmets with dense glass protection. Most flash burns are when they do that 'extra' weld without protection or look accidentally at someone else's welding torch.
