What's a sentinel lymphadenectomy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Staging procedure: The sentinel node represents the first node in the lymphatic chain and thus is able to predict the status of the other nodes. It is found by mapping which involves injecting dyes (nuclear medicine &/or vital blue) which travel the potential pathways the cancer cells would travel allowing identification, removal, & histologic evaluation.
