Can i expect my specialist doctor to communicate well with my family?

Depends on office.: Some specialists are great about keeping us in the loop- sending consult notes or even giving us a phone call to update us. Other specialist offices... Not so much. It's not an indictment of the skills of the specialist, but rather a workflow and communication breakdown - which is sometimes just as bad for your health. To be on the safe side, ask your specialist to fax their notes to the pcp.
