Just sticking with the physical exam: first step are the vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate and respiratory rate). The doctor should listen to the heart valves, possible murmurs, feel the point of maximal impulse and assess the pulses which may also include listening for turbulent blood flow. This is a brief overview.
