Heart check: Generally speaking, part of the routine workup includes blood work & an ekg. If any abnormal findings, further workup is ordered.

Symptoms, exam, test: A good doctor should talk to you about how you feel. If you have symptoms of fatigue, shortness of breath, palpitations, light headedness, or chest pain, they should examine you to gain additional data. Experience and clinical acumen can the help them pick the appropriate tests to make a diagnosis. If no symptoms, and exam is normal, your heart is most likely fine.
