A member asked:

How does the stomach pass nutrients into the bloodstream?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sugar and Alcohol: The stomach does not absorb most nutrients. The stomach has acid and churns the food. Alcohol and sugar can be directly absorbed into the stomach (amylase from saliva helps). Most nutrients are absorbed with enzymes and bile that comes from the pancreas and liver. These nutrients are absorbed in the intestines.
