Depends: The risk of rupture for aaas is associated with the diameter of the aorta. Here are some rough rupture risks... <5cm 3%/yr, 5cm 6%/yr, 5.5cm 7.6%/yr, 6cm 7-10%/yr, 7cm 25%/yr, 8cm 40%/yr. The risk of a major adverse event from an elective AAA repair is less than 3% (roughly). Eighty percent of people with ruptured aneurysms traditionally don't make it. These stats have improved w/ stents.
