Cheap: It's cheap, has a long shelf-life, and provides money for the school and school district. Plus the junk food manufacturers have the financial, political, and logistical capabilities to "encourage" school districts to carry their stuff in schools. It's a shame though. School is an ideal place to teach proper lifelong health habits.
