Depends on the: Organ/system affected and type or esch coli. The organism is common cause of urinary tract infections, and may be involved in lung infection, ear infection, meningitis, septicemia, and peritonitis etc. A strain of esch coli causes hemorrhagic diarrhea and hemolytic uremic syndrome.
