Pain redness,+: Swelling, pus formation. Paronychia/whitlow/felon, is an often-tender bacterial or fungal hand infection or foot infection where the nail and skin meet at the side or the base of a finger or toenail. The infection can start suddenly (acute paronychia) or gradually (chronic paronychia).

I have a toenail paronychia. One week ago began topical Mupirocin without success. Two days ago began Cephalexin 500 mg 3 times per day. No improvement yet. No visible abscess to drain. No other adverse symptoms (no fever, etc.) What to do next?
Big toe paronychia 2 weeks.Topical & 10 days oral antibiotics failed. (& 2x daily Epsom 15 min soaks.) DPM: no pus visible to drain.Symptoms:lateral focal tenderness,blanching, upper toe pinkish.But, small improvement on day 10 of orals. Now what?
