No: Not at this time. There are various medications to address various symptoms or behaviors, but not cure the disease itself.

A gift: Whether asperger's is a real entity is debated, but there's no question that some youngsters are physically awkward (which they'll always be, though i've known "aspie" bodybuilders and swimmers) and have trouble picking up social cues and developing social graces (which can be learned if junior is ready for guidance). The upside is the ability to focus the mind narrowly and productively.

This has not been the experience of my families who have children with Asperger's syndrome. The children struggle with communication skills, peer relations ships, eccentric behaviors and sometimes, obsessive interests. Families work hard to help their affected children manage every-day issues. Many are subject to bullying at school. Fortunately, many effective behavior therapies are available.

Pre 3 years: Abnormal eye contact, aloofness, failure to turn when called by name, failure to use gestures to point or show, a lack of interactive play, a lack of interest in peers. Some of these behaviors may be apparent in the first few months of a child’s life, or they may appear later.  problems in one of the areas of communication and socialization or repetitive, restricted behavior must be present by 3.

What are stim behaviors and why does the person with aspergers disorder do them?

Comfort: Self-stimulating behaviors are a variety of things that people engage in when they are uncomfortable or anxious in their environment. They can be automatic and like a habit, and can done in an unconscious manner. When people with autistic symptoms do them, it is a way of them coping with their environment by coping with stressful situations and getting a reduction in anxiety.
A 21-year-old member asked:

What are the advantages and disadvantages of having the label aspergers disorder?

Many: Asperger's gives the power to enjoy serious study of arcane subjects -- choose wisely. The price is poor coordination (aspies make better triathletes / bodybuilders than footballers / wrestlers), a tendency to fast mechanical speech, and much difficulty reading social cues and understanding others (you must get guidance to learn to compensate) -- you can be a jerk without realizing it. Good luck.
