Yes: Once you have the virus that causes cervical cancer, the abnormal cells can recur at any time. That is why it is especially important for you to have regular Pap smears and no skip them. You have seen that finding these things early can prevent major problems. The majority of cases of cervical cancer in this country occur in women who have not had Paps.
