Coccydynia: Pain at the tailbone, or coccydynia, may be due to local inflammation, prior trauma, or instability. A localized steroid injection may help, as well as NSAIDs and topical creams. Some patients may respond to manipulation of the coccyx, and surgical removal of the coccyx is also a rarely used option. See an orthopedist if symptoms persist.
