Yes, quite common: Unloader braces need to be fitted to each individual knee by a person knowledgeable in technical aspects of fitting such braces. Pain on the medial side, can, nonetheless, be a common complaint. Remember, the premise of such braces is to transfer load from one side of the knee to the other (does not negate load). In addition, if the now loaded side of the knee is also damaged, pain may increase.
