Wife says water in water bottle not drinkable after 24 hours due to bacteria. is it true? i don't want to waste water

Depends: Depending on how clean the bottle and water were at the beginning, it may not be a good idea to drink water sitting around for a day, especially if it is a bottle you refilled. Unopened bottled water, is good for months.
