A 34-year-old female asked:
for how long can i leave a jug of (opened) distilled water for my neti pot at room temperature before it starts to grow bacteria?

Contamination: The issue is not how long till it starts to grow bacteria but when does it become unsafe to use.
I would have no hesitation to using such a jug for months after it has been opened as long as it was opened and closed when used and as long as nothing other than the water was in the jug.

A 21-year-old male asked:
I clean my neti pot with a mixture of distilled water + white distilled vinegar and rinse it out with distilled water. Is this ok? Risk of bacteria?

Also use soap: You need to also clean your neti pot with soapy hot water. Also change your neti pot every 3 months. Water and vinegar alone will not completely clean a neti pot.
