Asthma meds: Generally speaking asthma patients need albuterol, a beta agonist type medicine for rescue. If the asthma is more persistent they need a controller type medicine. These consist of inhaled steroids, which at low dose are generally safe or oral anti-inflammatory such as Singulair (montelukast) which are steroid free.
