ON is risk for MS: Optic neuritis (ON), as scary & painful as it sounds, is only a symptom (monocular vision loss, painful, color blind). Visual function generally spontaneously improves over weeks, and 95% of patients return to visual acuity of at least 20/40 within 12 months. However ON could be a marker of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) which can go on to affect any nerve in the body. So following a Neurologist is good.
