A member asked:

My 12 year old daughter was complaining of stomach cramps and when she had a bowl movement there was bright red blood in the bowl?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Blood in stool: If it continues she needs to be seen. Often children are constipated and may have blood in their stool from straining. If she has severe stomach cramps and/or continues to have blood in her stool get her evaluated by her doctor. For constipation contact her doctor and get more detailed advice. Peaches, pears, prunes can soften stools, along with plenty of fluids and vegetables.
