Seek CBT therapy: Whether this matches an OCD Dx or not - you need to have a good psych eval and follow through w/ treatment. In therapy you can learn skills to manage such symptoms and also how to determine the seriousness of physical symptoms. Very unlikely that anyone quits breathing but you can disturb it badly and suffer the effects. It takes time and effort, but you can get better.
