A member asked:

I went to the dr last week and he said there was a ton of fluid behind my right ear. does this mean it's an ear infection? and if so what should i do

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not usually: You can have fluid behind the eardrum without infection -- colds, allergies, and other things can cause this. It needs to be rechecked at some point to ensure it's resolving, but unless it does become infected, no treatment is necessary at this time.
