Facial harmony: See an experienced facial plastic surgeon. Those two procedures can provide dramatic improvements. Your surgeon will be able to tell you about the risks, benefits and different options available for implants as well as bone manipulation surgery (chin advancement). Having both chin and nose addressed often provides synergistic improvement in appearance. 2+2=6!

Balance: Deciding upon a rhinoplasty and/or a mentoplasty depends upon your personal goals and the overall balance of your face. These are generally addressed at the same time to ensure that you get the best outcome. Similarly, you wouldn't address or offer a facelift without also talking about the skin of the eyelids. Talk over all your concerns about the face whether or not you want them all addressed.

Rhinoplasty options: Consider which parts of your nose you'd like to change first. Main areas are tip and profile. Figure out if there are width concerns and crookedness. Think about functional issues are well. These concepts will help you to choose a surgeon and communicate effectively what you want. In terms of the chin it depends on age, the size of your nose now and the rhinoplasty result you are looking for.

Facial balance : A mentoplasty - or chin augmentation- is usually recommended when the chin is weak or small relative to the facial shape and contour. Chin augmentation can help to balance the face and help to make the nose appear more in balance and less prominent. This can be done either through a small incision under the chin or from inside the mouth.

Profile : When considering a mentoplasty in conjunction with a rhinoplasty it is important to consider the appearance of your profile. Changing the projection of your chin has a dramatic change on the perceived appearance and balance of your nose. For rhinoplasty, you should look for a board certified surgeon experienced in addressing both the cosmetic and functional aspects of your nose.
