Common bile duct: dilation is most commonly caused by obstruction of the duct by a stone, inflammation or tumor. Further testing such as endoscopic cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) can identify the cause and perhaps relieve the obstruction. Sometimes surgery is needed. Thanks for trusting HealthTap!
