Daughter has parainfluenza coughs are so bad that she wakes up with croupy cough trying to breath on predisolone why not helping er sends me home ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Parainfluenza: this is a viral infection which causes a cough for several days and since it is viral there is no treatment to kill the virus. Symptoms are a croupy cough that is caused by soft tissue swelling of the upper airway. These symptoms can be treated with steroids and moist air such as by a cool mist humidifier or sitting in a bathroom with steamed air from the shower. If she worsens get her rechecked
