Stepwise approach: The gynecologist will start by asking you and your daughter questions from his/her field of expertise. Specifically he/she will inquire about your daughters menstrual history. The doctor then may decide that he/she needs to examine your daughter's private parts to make sure that the organs are properly developed. The doctor may also order ultrasound or other imaging studies.
