Decongestants: You should treat your symptoms optimally. For the nasal congestion, pseudoephedrine or phenylephrine OTC will help, as long as you don't have any cardiovascular or blood pressure problems. Treat the sore throat with analgesics, like ibuprofen or acetaminophen. Drink plenty of fluids and have a humidifier in the bedroom. If symptoms last greater than 1 week, you may need to see doctor.
