A member asked:

Are vancomycin and invanz (ertapenem) injections dangerous during pregnancy? my doc wants me to take it.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Limited Data: Both antibiotics have limited data available for any fetal effects during pregnancy. Invanz (ertapenem) is considered category b or safe based on animal studies with limited human experience. Vancomycin is considered category b/c for simlar reasons. There is no data reporting malformations.
