Fairly common.: It is not unusual to have some discomfort with swallowing in the chest if heartburn is out of control. If you notice that your food is sticking on the way down, then you need an evaluation to determine why, and to get adequate treatment for your problem. For now I would use antacids for heartburn and see your doctor if it is occurring more than 3x a week. Good luck.
