Not so much: The cardio benefits to doing so many push-ups and sit-ups would be pretty limited, and it is the cardio that burns calories leading to the results you are describing. More common exercises for this are typically jogging, bicycle, elliptical, aerobics among others. You might consider working with a trainer.
