A member asked:

Why might someone get a sharp pain in their buttocks when they get up from a seat that's not very cushioned?

Coccydynia.: This sounds like coccydynia, which is a pain in the tail bone which occurs after sitting on a hard surface for a long time or from falling onto your tail bone onto a hard surface. Can take a long time to heal up. You can try sitting on a "donut", that soft cushion with a hole in the middle that you find at the surgical supply stores. Anti inflammatories and heat may help.
