Sharp : Sharp pain in the muscle area can be from muscle spasm, which can be caused by muscle irritation from exercise or electrolyte (sodium, potassium calcium, magnesium) disturbance. It can be caused by sciatica, which is a nerve that goes through the buttocks, but that is usually more constant. If the pain is in the anus area, it can be caused by anal spasm, which can occur for no reason but is usually associated with hard bowel movements, and is very uncomfortable.
