A member asked:

Why is it so hard to recover from being a drug addict?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Drug Addiction: Long term drug usage alters the structure of the brain to a point where it is not only mind power any more - there are increased receptors asking for the drug. so to deaddict oneself the person has to overcome the increase in receptors as well as the reward centers that cause the cravings. and therefore it becomes more difficult.
