A number of reasons: Psychiatric medications frequently treat symptoms rather than causes. In some cases meds like Invega (paliperidone) can help stabilize mood swings or irritability which can be seen in DID. It can also be used in combination with other medications in the treatment of depression. Best is to ask why she wrote for it. This will help her work with you to understand if it's making the desired difference.
