A member asked:

Why am i still coughing and having a runny nose even after taking antibiotics?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Viral: If the infection is actually viral and not bacterial then the antibiotics will not do anything to help. Antibiotics only treat bacterial infections. Typically viral upper respiratory infections can have cough and runny nose lasting 7-14 days. There is no cure but your body's immune system will kill the virus off in time. Use dayquil / nyquil or other meds for symptoms.
