Uterus: It is cancer that develops in the uterine cervix, the lower tip of the uterus that sticks out into the vagina (see the illustration). Usually associated with human papilloma virus infection, so it can be prevented with the HPV vaccine or at least detected early with PAP smears. Not to be confused with endometrial cancer, which happens within the uterus itself.
