Try OTC approach: OTC items include melatonin, which can be very successful, but may require some individual dosage variation. Some folks take Benadryl, (diphenhydramine) which has a side effect of drowsiness and sleepiness. True prescription sleeping pills must be obtained from a physician.

Agree w Dr. Machanic: Valerian (Valeriana officinalis), California poppy (Eschscholzia californica), Wild lettuce (Lactuca virosa), Lemon Balm ((Melissa officinalis)), passion flower (Passiflora incarnata), Chamomile (Anthemis nobilis), Hops (Humulus lupulus), Lavender (Lavandula officinalis), St. John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum) & are herbs which can aid with sleep. Melatonin is very helpful.
