What are glucocorticoids?

Steroids: Hormones from the adrenal gland such as cortisol. Aldosterone is a mineralocorticoid, since it is involved mostly in sodium/potassium balance. Steroid medications such as dexamethasone and prednisone are predominantly glucocorticoids, whereas fludrocortisone is a mineralocorticoid.
