A member asked:

4 yr old prescribed qvar 40 to be taken as follows: 2 puffs twice a day total of 160mcg/day for asthma. dosage seems a little high.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: it asthma symptoms is not under control OK to use this dose, if the child is doing well, can step down to a lower dose such as 40 twice a days, I would reduce the dose if not cough or wheezing for 30 days on the high dose, The minimal dose that can control the symptoms is the correct dose
