Sugar...: Stop it. You need to seriously crack down on how much simple sugar you take in each day. Shift your focus to veggies whenever possible. They should take up half your plate at meal time. No juices or sodas (diet or regular). Get all the low-impact exercise you can - think elliptical or swimming. Good luck!

Diet is the key: I understand your exercise is limited, so your next step is diet. Do an internet search for a BMR calculator to determine how many calories you can eat a day to maintain your weight and be sure not to eat more than that. Low carbohydrates is also important to keep blood sugars lower. Also, talk to your doctor to see if/when you would need to start a medication to help with your blood sugars.
