A member asked:

Dear doctor, is mrsa infection contagious if the swab test is positive for groin only and is not in contact with any family members?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Infective: MRSA is infective to others as many people have been exposed and are carrying it around on their skin. But as many people are positive for it we do not treat unless true wound infection Sometimes patients who are positive for swab will get some prophylaxis but only when in hospital.
