Unclear question: Colonoscopy and biopsy is often done to diagnose Crohns disease. However, vast majority of the colonoscopies do not show Crohns disease.

Yes: In many instances inspection of the lining of the intestines with colonoscopy necessary to help establish the diagnosis of Crohn's disease. Colonoscopy is preferred because it is possible to advance the scope into the end of the small intestine (terminal ileum) , which is a common site for Crohns disease to be present. In Crohn's disease, the lining of the colon and/or terminal ileum appears swollen and inflamed. The inflammation is often patchy and discontinuous,unlike ulcerative colitis
