Monitor: You don't say how old your child is, but a little mucus and reddish stool should be monitored carefully. This may be formula intolerance or may represent another problem such as Meckel's Diverticulum. If there is frank blood them your child should be evaluated.

Most times harmless: Mucus and blood in the stool of a baby is harmless most of the time and if does not persist,requires no trearment. Blood in stools can be from anal tear.food allergies or an intestinal infection in a breast fed baby.Or can be from the from cracked nipple of the mother and blood has passed through the babys intestines. If it persists the baby needs to be examined to rule out an anal tear/infection
