A member asked:

Slightly elevated rbc count; hemoglobin and hematocrit are within normal range; are there any conditions i should be worried about?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Why worry?: How do you FEEL? You may just have small red cells and your body is fully compensated -- my reds are pint-sized as well. You may even have a small dose of a thalassemia trait. You also know that reference ranges are arbitrarily set so that several percent of folks fall outside. What you describe is NEVER worrisome. Do ask your physician whether you have thal minor -- it's worth knowing
